Dr. Annette Smith is the Director of Instructional Technology Services at the WI Department of Public Instruction. Her background includes time as a teacher, media specialist, district technology director, and professor. She has an undergraduate degree in education and library science from the University of North Dakota and a Ph.D. from UW in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. Her doctoral thesis focuses on the role of technology directors in k-12 environments with a focus on leadership. Annette’s knowledge and passion for education has led her to serve on the Board of Directors for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), as a founding member of the Wisconsin Educational Technology Leaders (WETL), and as president of the Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association (WEMTA) where she chaired multiple statewide conferences. She has published works in a variety of educational journals around leadership, teaching, and learning.
